Hospitalist (3-309-1027) The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting a full time Intermediate Care Hospitalist.  This service provided 24/7 inpatient coverage and serves to expedite transfers from our acute care units, the Emergency Department and the Medical Intensive Care Unit.  The IMC team helps to reduce length of stay in the ER and on the acute services, costs per case and re-admission rates, as well as increase admissions to the medical service, free up beds in the intensive care unit for more critically ill patients, ensure that 80-hour weekly limit on duty hours is enforced for residents, and direct admissions as needed.  While this is a non-teaching service, opportunities are available for teaching.

Successful candidates must have received their MD degree from a recognized accredited university (or foreign equivalent), be board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, and be eligible to obtain an independent medical license in the State of Maryland.  Excellent clinical and teaching skills are also required as instruction of medical residents and fellows is integral to our clinical programs.  Faculty rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with experience, although we anticipate the position will be as Assistant Professor or higher.
