Department of Family and Community Medicine,
University of Maryland School of Medicine
The Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland is recruiting for two full-time positions within its Division of Medical Student Education.
Our University-based department is one of the first academic family medicine training programs in the US. Our 21 faculty members teach 30 residents each year as well overseeing all curricular offerings in family medicine to the school's student body of 165 per year. Perennially, we are ranked as the number one rated clerkship by students in our school. We take pride in the fact that a higher than national average number of students choose family medicine as a career choice each year- an unusual distinction for a mid- Atlantic academic medical center. We attribute this success to our division's commitment and focus, viewing every student as a potential family doctor.
We seek two personable, flexible and outgoing family physicians to be a member of our dynamic Division of Medical Student Education. Our new faculty will initially assist in all aspects of student education: clerkship, fourth-year sub-internship and electives, FMIG, and student mentoring. This position includes teaching, scholarly, and clinical roles. Rapid assumption of key leadership positions in these course offerings is anticipated. Obstetrics, while not required, would be an asset. University Family Medicine, our clinical practice, sees over 40,000 patients per year. This position would be ideal for a junior faculty member who is looking for a nurturing environment with an emphasis on personal career development mentoring. Start date is flexible.
The University of Maryland School of Medicine is a top-tier medical school associated with a quaternary care medical center one block from our departmental office. There are tremendous opportunities to pursue most any academic interest by networking with a welcoming academic school of medicine full time faculty of 1,370members. Excellent benefits and salary commensurate with experience will be reviewed with qualified applicants.
