Overview

University of Maryland St Joseph Medical Center (UMSJMC), a member of the University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to join its growing practice in Towson, Maryland.

Unit Specifics

  • 9 LDRP’s
  • 5 Triage beds
  • Level III NICU
  • EPIC EMR with Stork

Job Specifics:

  • Full Scope Midwifery
  • See patients in the outpatient setting as well as participate with the group to deliver 15-20 low risk patients per month
  • Practice expanding to 4 CNM’s
  • 1:4 Call Schedule
  • At least 2 years of CNM experience
  • First assist experience preferred
    • Must be willing to be trained within 6 months of employment
  • Long tradition of delivering low risk women
    • Most of whom desire natural births
  • Hospital is supportive of VBAC and hydrotherapy/waterbirth
  • Practice attends to 15-20 deliveries per month
    • Low cesarean rate of 10%
  • Supported by Hospitalist in the hospital  and in the office

  • Has an on call 24/7 Rapid Response Team, composed of a critical care physician, intensive care nurse and respiratory therapist, to prevent codes and reduce mortality when a patient's condition deteriorates.
  • Has more than 700 physicians on the medical staff, representing more than 50 medical specialties. Employs approximately 2,300 nurses, allied healthcare professionals and staff.
